My mother is an early stage Alzheimer’s patient and the relinquishing of a major part of her independence with the move to assisted living was not easy. Our first experience with an assisted living facility was unnerving. Staff was seldom available for information. Health issues such as a resident deciding not to bathe or missing meals, were not of concern to the staff. If a resident’s room could not be cleaned on a set schedule, it was just skipped. When emergencies occurred, residents were placed in an ambulance with paperwork and sent to a local hospital with no thought for their emotional well being.

When we moved Mom to North Spring, we found out what Assisted Living should actually be. The staff really cares, always encouraging, and always available. Mom’s well being, from hygiene to nutrition is always looked after with priority and dignity. Not only is transportation provided for doctor’s appointments, but when an emergency occurs, and a family member is not readily available, a staff member always accompanies the resident to the hospital, easing their anxieties.

I have fallen in love with North Spring Assisted Living. Having witnessed the care given not only to my Mom, but to the other residents as well, my daughter has been told that if the time comes when I need help, please move me to North Spring.
